Go to a shoe store that has a treadmill or track so that the shoe salesperson can observe your walking or running style in order to suggest the exact right brand and style for you. You'll have to listen to get the rest of the tips. Why does Dr.Fitness have to always bring up either tennis or soccer on every show, it is driving the Fat Guy nuts. Kathie has worked for years as a model, an actress, a national spokesperson and is now the dynamic co-host of the "Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Savvy" TV show. But her career almost didn't get off the ground. Very early in she was told by a top NY agent that she wasn't pretty enough, that she didn't have what it took to succeed. Kathie refused to believe that and has achieved so much despite her early rejection. Learn more about Kathie at her website getkathie.com Rory Freedman, the co-author of the red hot, brutally honest, hilarious diet book Skinny Bitch was our next guest. On tonight's show, Doctor Fitness and the Fat Guy get the skinny about how to survive Halloween without putting on too many extra pounds. This is Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy's 2nd Annual Halloween Calorie Saving Tip Show. Last year we were lucky enough to have Lisa Lillien, the Hungry-Girl on our first Halloween Show and she is back again this year. This year we also pulled some strings and had on Lyssie and Tammy Lakatos, the Nutrition Twins. And for the first time we had on one of New york's best personal trainers, who was recently featured in Oprah's O Magazine, Michael Gonzalez-Wallace. We started off with Michael telling us about "The Workout That Does It All" this workout strengthens your mind as well as your muscles. It boosts your immune system while burning calorie after calorie. Micheal is a former professional basketball player from Spain who is now taking over New York City with this awesome exercise program. Check out his website www.sportstrengthtraining.com and see clips of his brand new DVDs. You can also learn all about the Neuromuscular Strength Training system he specifically developed to help his clients on the upper East Side of Manhattan. Micheal lost 9 pounds during the filming of these videos so imagine how much weight you'll lose if you use them a couple times a week. If you mention Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy when you order his exercise dvds Michael will knock off 15% of the purchase price. Next we were joined by Lyssie and Tammy Lakatos, the Nutrition Twins. They recently were kind of regulars on the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy TV show. They can also be seen all the time on WABC news in New York giving all kinds of nutrition advice, recently they did an extended segment all about Halloween Candy. And that's what we talked about tonight on our show. The Nutrition Twins are big fans of Tootsie pops and other lollipops for treats. They also love Adora Calcium Supplements, which can be found at www.AdoraCalcium.com. For some reason, we also talked about tips to help you start gaining weight. Probably because Nicole Richie is in the news struggling with gaining weight. Yeah, her and 3 other people out there. Her tips for this Halloween are more candy corn and peeps and less Snickers and Reese's. She also mentioned her tip for using Fiber One as a bread crumb substitute, but you'll have to listen to the show to see how to do that. "The funniest weight loss and fitness radio show on the internet." Please click on the POD button to listen to the latest Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy show. On tonight's show, Doctor Fitness and the Fat Guy get the skinny about losing weight from Jami Bernard. Jami was the Film Critic for the New York Daily News. Her latest book is "The Incredible Shrinking Critic: 75 Pounds and Still Counting: My Excellent Adventure in Weight Loss." Jami bravely chronicled her weight loss in her column in the newspaper. Then wrote her book to summarize all that she learned. Her book is funny, informative and brutally honest. Losing 75 pounds is hard enough, but imagine doing it with New York City watching your every move. That's tough. So a big congrats to Jami for losing the weight and keeping it off. We got to talk to her about some of the crazy diets she tried over they years and what it was that ultimately worked for her. You'll have to listen to the show to find out what her weight loss secret was. You can check out her website www.jamibernard.com and buy this book or any of her other books. Be sure to check out her blog, it is filled with insights into the life of a film critic, a best selling author as well as her wonderful weight loss success story. Dr Fitness also shared his tips on what to do if you are in an exercise slump. You know like the one I am perpetually in. Where you just cannot get motivated to move your body. This happens to me quite a bit now that the temperature has dropped into the 40s and 50s. Here are Dr. Fitness' tips to get out of that slump...Number 1, crank up the tunes, listen to music or watch TV, talk on your cell phone... do anything to take your mind off exercising Number 2, schedule time into your exercise program to take breaks, every 6 weeks you should take a week off. And Number 3, get a partner to watch your back. You will slip up, everyone does, you just need someone to get you back on track as soon as possible. You will have to listen to the show to find out all the rest of Dr Fitness' great exercise tips. The Fat Guy forgot to give his Sarah Reinersten on the Amazing Race 10 on CBS update for the second week in a row. She is the triathlete with the fake leg. She and Peter finished 1st in the fifth round and we will be tracking her progress each week on our show. there is definitely trouble in paradise for Sarah's and Peter's relationship. I think they have a better chance on winning the Amazing Race than staying a couple. Check out the Amazing Race website here http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race10/ and Sarah's website here www.iamsarah.org Another highlight of this show was the Fat Guy sharing his recent trip to Burts pumpkin farm and the apple orchards in the North Georgia mountains. We also talked about Josh, a guy who is a competitive weightlifter who asked us to sponsor his attempt to be on the U.S. Olympic Weightlifting Team. Currently he is ranked 13th in the United States. What do you think, should we sponsor this guy or not. We'll let the listeners decide. And as a bonus to our listeners here's a link to an article on the best diet and weight loss websites from the Los Angeles Times. I don't know how it happened but the Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy website didn't make the list. It must have been an oversight. http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-he-lean23oct23,1,2604503,print.story?coll=la-headlines-health Also don't forget to check out Dr. Fitness on Huntsville, AL TV.
